PAUL DE VREE, Maskers (Subvers 11, Ijmuiden 1973)

Loose sheets in folder. Outlines of masks with rather simplistic English words in the eye holes, e.g. "do/you/see/my/body/or/my/soul". Paul de Vree was born in Belgium in 1909 and was one of the first to publish my concrete poetry in the 60s in the magazine he edited, 'De Tafelronde'. I only met him once briefly in the late 70s at the opening of Guy Schraenen's small press exhibition in Antwerp.
